Battling your hair “Winter Blues”
It’s bad enough that during Winter you get darker/shorter days, cold/freezing temperatures, and the “Winter Blues”, but add in dry, brittle hair and it becomes the most dreaded season of the year. Your hair goes through a lot in the summer months, being thrown up all the time, getting beaten down with chlorine and salt water, and let’s be honest, all the extra lightening services that you get to make you as blonde as possible. By the time that fall and winter roll around, your hair is hoping for a much-needed break, but if not treated properly can end up getting even more compromised and potentially damaged. The dry cold weather outside, and the dry air inside does nothing to help your hair receive the nourishment that it needs. All this added dryness to your already beat down summer hair can cause breakage and frizzy, unmanageable hair.
The best advice that I can give you is, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE! Use the extra time you have when it’s 20 degrees outside and you don’t feel like going anywhere and put on a hair mask, while you enjoy a glass of wine!
2. The second tip I have for you is to not wash your hair every day, yes dirty hair is OK!
And while you're at
it, it wouldn’t hurt to make sure you're using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND washing your hair every other day and if you can every 2 days. Every day your scalp produces natural oils that are actually healthy for not only your scalp but for your hair also. It may take some time getting used to not having freshly washed hair every day, but girl, take advantage of the fact that it's freezing outside, give yourself some YOU time and Netflix and chill with your dirty hair!
3. The last tip I’m going to give you is to invest in some good hair oil. I can promise you that if you get the
right oil for your hair, it will NOT weigh your hair down, and won’t make you look greasy. It is one of the best products available to help with not only the dryness in your hair but also the frizz as well. Every one of us wants that beautiful shine to our hair and this is how we get and maintain it. By simply doing some or all of the things listed above, your hair will be healthier and, in a way, better position to handle what summer is about to throw its way.
Try it out! Your hair will thank you!
